Call us crazy!
Hi! I did not send anything into the newletter, I feel like there is nothing to tell. So I decided to blog instead. The only exciting thing to share is that we got a second puppy! Doing great in 2008
Hi all! I have read your postings and this looks like a lot of fun! I thought I would add a bit from the Hicks house. We are all well and glad to be back in the swing of our work/school routine. I am back to my PTA duty's, baby-sitting, cub scout calling and running our household. Nothing very exciting. We had a great Christmas. Jon's sister and new husband were in town. We went into Seattle one day with them, Jon took them snowboarding and the rest of the time we hung out at home. It was nice to visit with family over the holidays. We are thankful for our good health and the many blessings we receive each day.

Happy New Year!
Well believe it or not I got into blog & am now will see if I can add my own words to Wilson Family Blog. This is so cool THANK YOU Kevin! You are so smart!
Many Thanks to Travis who set me up and coached me in this new thing.
Here it is 2008. Hope we all have a happy & stressless (ha-ha-ha) new year. My newest adventure is that I am planning to buy my own place. It is a nice 14 x 70 single wide mobile home. It is in a mobile home park about a mile south of where I am now, here in Springville. It is only $1500 and I am using $ from my 401k that I have to use by time I am 70, which is fast approaching. It has two bedrooms & two baths, one of which will be for my two kittens. I have to keep littler box in my kitchen, which is not always that cool. It also has nice carport (no more scraping snow & ice off my car) & big shed for all of my stuff. Will update as to new address, etc. Have a great new years.

Today is New Years day, 2008. I hope this is a good year for one and all. We started our day off by going out to breakfast the Kamas Cafe and now we are going to go to the movie. Mariner Moose Gives me my Christmas Party invitation!
This picture is when we had Mariner Moose in the office handing out our Holiday Party invitations at work! Only a couple more weeks till Christmas!
We had our party this last Saturday and it was a blast. We held the party at Safeco Field in the diamond club. We were able to tour the facility and walk onto the field (not the grass) and try to bat in the batting cage and try our hand at pitching, which I should never do again! Trina is much better.

Salam Alekum from Afghanistan
Sorry I missed Kevin's original advertisement that we now have a Wilson Family Blog. Travis drew my attention to it in a recent phone call. Thanks Kevin for doing this. It's a great idea. It's something we should have done long ago.
Anyway, we are surviving in Kabul, Afghanistan. Looking forward to seeing the Kamas crew in a couple of weeks. As most of you might know by now, we have rented a townhouse for a week in Park City where the (now extended) Andy Wilson clan can spend the Holidays together. We are planning lots of activities to do together as a family; skiing, snowmobiling, board (bored) games, daily brunch team cooking competition, foosball, football, hot-tubbing, etc. Should be a blast. Hope to have some good times and create some good memories.
Afghanistan is cooling off. Haven't had any snow in Kabul yet, though the mountains around us are all snowbound. Kyoko and I stay plenty busy in our jobs. We both work nearly 70 hours per week; 6-day workweeks. We (especially Kyoko) spend 98% of our time on the walled, barb-wired, armed-guarded Emassy compound. I get out occasionally for meetings, but Kyoko only gets out for Church--when she doesn't have to work. Friday (Muslim sabbath) is our day off when we attend church at nearby Camp Eggers. We attend the LDS Servicemen's Group there. We have about 25-30 regular members. Kyoko is RS Prez, with only two women in the entire Group, one of whom is currently home on a three-month leave, so that leaves Kyoko as the entire RS.
We've had a number of security-related incidents. On our fourth day in Kabul, a rocket hit about 100 meters from the Embassy. No one was hurt, but the loud boom nearly rocked us out of bed. We often have IED attacks (car bombs) in our neighborhood, when any nonessential travel is forbidden, and we have to stay inside the Embassy compound. Boring.

Hamlet Family 2007 Christmas Letter
November, 2007
Dear Family and Friends,
Once again the Christmas season has managed to sneak up on me. One would think that a person would try to remember from year to year that preparing early would be a smart idea, but…
Our year has been good. We have many things to be grateful for. The year began with me having surgery on my left hand to relieve the carpal tunnel and I am glad to report that it was very successful. I am still taking piano lessons every week and it has become one of my very favorite activities. I am serving in the primary, at church, as a counselor and that has been a blast. I love the ladies that I work with.
Rebekah turned 12 in June. She is a wonderful young lady, we are so proud of her. She is doing great in school and still takes piano as well. She is in the band again this year playing the sax, and is really enjoying being in the young women’s program at church. She got to attend Girls camp in August and had a wonderful time.
Scott had a difficult year. He had his tonsils and adenoids removed in January. He was in a lot of pain but wouldn’t take the pain medicine or the antibiotic because it hurt him too much to swallow so he got an infection. Finally I did manage to get him to take the antibiotic and he got better. He then got pneumonia and was pretty sick from that. It was not an easy time for him and he had to miss about 3 weeks of school. He is doing well now. He turned 10 in June and is having lots of fun with scouts. He went to Scout Camp in late June and did very well with the rifle shooting, he hit close to the bulls eye every time. He is in the 5th grade and loves his teacher. He also takes piano but doesn’t seem to enjoy it like his mom does!
Kate is having fun in second grade. She loves school and piano. Everything is an adventure for her. She played soccer this year and it was really fun, it was great to watch her and her team progress over the season. Here team only lost (the really didn’t keep official score) three games, the rest of the time her team came out on top. She wants us to find her a winter league so that she can keep playing! She will turn 8 just before Christmas and is really looking forward to being baptized in January.
Hanah is crazy! She loves going to preschool and is really excited about learning her abc’s! She really keeps me busy as she isn’t happy sitting still. She loves to make messes and get into things that aren’t hers so that pretty much keeps everybody in turmoil! She is excited about turning 5 in January and she can’t wait to go to the big school when she will get to ride the bus with Kate, sadly she has to wait until September for that. She is sweet and funny, and can really tell a great story. She adds so much to our family!
Emma is the light of the family. She has curly hair and chubby cheeks and legs! She loves to tell everybody what to do and how to do it. In November, she somehow managed to get 4 good sized beads shoved into her nose and we had to take her to the doctor for their removal. The last one was in there so good that they had to put her to sleep to get it out! Never a dull moment for mom. She loves to sing too. I often get to hear the same song of a CD many times over so that she can sing along. Too funny.
Kevin is well. He loves his job and the people that he works with so that is great. He loves working in the church as well and they love to keep him busy. He did give me quite a scare in November. He woke me up early in the morning with chest pains and shortness of breath. He had severe pain in his left arm and he was sweating. It was pretty scary. I called 911 and then 2 good friends from the church and they came over. They gave him a blessing just before the medics put him in the ambulance. It was a terrifying experience but turned out to be a pinched nerve in his neck! We still have received no answer as to why the symptoms were so similar to those of a heart attack, but we aren’t complaining. From that experience we did learn that he has high cholesterol, poor liver function and low potassium. Poor guy!
We were able to take our family vacation to Utah in June. It was great. We camped out in my grandma’s back yard and did lots of sight seeing. We really enjoyed visiting with our family and friends there. We are planning on going again next year. To celebrate surviving 13 years with each other, Kevin and I took a trip to Disneyland in the spring while our kids stayed home with some friends of ours. We had a great time and can’t wait for our next migration to the mother land!
Our thoughts are with all of you during this glorious season and we pray that all is well and happy for you. May we remember that the Savior should be at the center of our celebrations.
